Most complex systems or automated process are controlled by a SCADA or HMI. Errors on the systems compete with the maintenance workload resulting in a poorly aligned maintenance demand. The maintenance plan is reviewed mostly in isolation and does not take operational environment into consideration. As a result the operational errors are usually higher than where the plan is developed in a combined system review with focused system improvements.

We developed our baggage maintenance utilising MSG3 and implemented the inspections with SMDsystem. Our planned maintenance is managed with OMPsystem, which allows us to complete maintenance checklists and monitor the progress. The information is automatically uploaded into Maximo.
We have use RPSoptimiser to set up the maintenance on the baggage systems, and to identify hotspots and has been used to reduce equipment downtime in critical areas. We also use it to monitor the MTBF and MTTR of individual equipment and classes of assets.
I was, and still am, impressed by the software program and its capabilities. Even though the matter and environment are very complex, MIR is surprisingly easy to learn and handle.
MIR system allows me to quickly identify errors and trends on our equipment, which I can then focus on and monitor over time to see how effective our changes are at resolving the problem.
